The Anchorage Law Library is being remodeled as part of the renovations to the Boney Courthouse. The library remodel will move forward in three phases. Please see the schedule below.
The library will be open throughout the remodel. While some of the collection has been put in storage, the most widely-used material is still on the shelf. The vast majority of our resources are still available either in print or electronically, including treatises and Alaska material.
If you need a book and you’re not sure whether or not we have it, check our online catalog, call us at 264-0585, or email us at email@example.com. If we don’t have it, and you are an Alaska Bar member or a court employee, we can try to get it for you through interlibrary loan. This process is not immediate, so please plan ahead as much as possible.
All library services will continue during the remodel. Public computers and free wifi are available. Library staff can assist you with legislative history, superseded statutes, microfiche, and other research. We can help you find resources on Westlaw, HeinOnline, and Intelliconnect. We are here to answer your questions.
Phase 1 – April 2012 through March 2013 (completed)
The law library remained open, while construction commenced in the West Mezzanine, the north end of the Reading Room, and parts of the basement. Library services and materials were located in the Reading Room and the shelves that formerly held reporters.
Phase 2 - construction begins in April 2013
The law library will be open. Library services and materials will be located in the Reading Room while construction begins on our new stacks in the former reporter area (where the treatise collection was located throughout Phase 1). Library staff offices and workspace have moved upstairs to the West Mezzanine. Phase 2 is scheduled to conclude in July 2014.
The law library will be open. Library services and materials will be located in the new stacks while construction moves into the Reading Room.
