                                   Amending the Personnel Rules
                                   for classified and partially
                                   exempt employees to include a
                                   basic salary schedule.

IT IS ORDERED:

     1.   The Personnel Rules for classified and partially exempt
employees are amended to include the following monthly basic salary
schedule for classified and partially exempt employees of the
Alaska Court System who are not members of a collective bargaining
unit established under the authority of the Public Employment
Relations Act:

     2.   The monthly basic salary schedule set out in section 1 of
this order will be adjusted to include geographic pay step
differentials provided for in AS 39.27.020.

     3.   A court system employee whose salary is determined under
the schedule set out in section 1 will also receive pay increments
for longevity as provided in AS 39.27.022.  


     4.   The monthly basic salary schedule set out in section 1 of
this order will be amended effective July 1, 1997 and July 1, 1998
to include salary adjustments comparable to those received by
classified and partially exempt employees of the executive branch
under AS 39.27.011(f)-(g).  The Personnel Director will ensure that
an amended salary schedule is published in the Personnel Rules for
classified and partially exempt employees on or about the effective
date of the amendments.
