IN THE SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF ALASKA

                         ORDER NO. 1260

                                   Concerning Alaska Bar Rule 12
                                   and appointment and selection
                                   of area discipline division
                                   members under new SCO 1244.  

IT IS ORDERED:

     Beginning May 15, 1997, area discipline division members will
be appointed and selected for service in attorney discipline
matters under the procedures adopted by Supreme Court Order 1244. 
Until that date, members will be appointed and selected for service
under Alaska Bar Rule 12 as published in the 1995-96 edition of the
Alaska Rules of Court.
