Adoption
Adoption occurs when an adult assumes, through a formal court proceeding,
legal and all other responsibilities for a child, creating a permanent parent-child
relationship.
The Alaska Court System has court forms for adoption by a stepparent. These forms can be used when the mother, the father and the stepparent all agree to the adoption.
- Instructions for the Adoption of a Minor Child by a Stepparent, P-400

- Petition for Adoption by Stepparent, P-405

- Consent to Stepparent Adoption (from Petitioner's Spouse), P-410

- Consent to Stepparent Adoption (from Parent Giving Up Child), P-415

- Consent to Stepparent Adoption (Consent of Child Age 10 or Older), P-420

- Consent to Stepparent Adoption (Child's Spouse or Guardian), P-425

- Request for Certificate of Adoption or Termination of Parental Rights,
P-440

If you are not the child's stepparent, you will need to consult with an attorney
to file a case.
