Jury Duty Scam: Anchorage police report that Alaskans have been targeted by callers impersonating police officers. Citizens are being threatened with arrest and a fine for failing to appear for jury service. This is a scam.
If you receive such a call, please contact the Anchorage Police at 907-786-8900 or, if outside of Anchorage, contact your local police. If you are able to identify the caller’s phone number, give that information to the police.

Social Security Numbers: Alaska Court System jury clerks will not ask you for your social security number. If someone contacts you and asks you for your social security number on behalf of the court, it is not legitimate.

Jurors play an extremely important role in the American justice system.  Impartial jurors representing a fair cross section of the community are essential to guaranteeing to all of us our constitutional right to trial by jury.
